How to raise healthy and well-behaved children: expert advice

Parents dream of seeing their children happy, healthy, and goal-oriented. As noted by Jennet Hajyyeva, head of the Oncology Department at the National Oncology Center, in her article for the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper, cultivating these qualities begins with the family atmosphere.

According to her, a positive emotional climate, warm relationships, and concern for a child's health form the foundation for their harmonious development. Proper nutrition also plays a key role. Since a child's body grows rapidly, their diet must be balanced and suited to their age-related needs.

Maintaining a daily routine at home for children ensures the proper distribution of time and the correct sequence in meeting the body's basic physiological needs, such as sleep, meals, communication, and play. A proper routine ensures the child’s balanced and energetic state, protects the nervous system from fatigue, and provides optimal conditions for physical and mental development.

Following healthy lifestyle habits within the family includes fostering a desire for physical activity, sports, tempering the body, and taking care of one’s health. A parent's personal example is crucial in this regard. It also aids in the development of basic motor skills, such as walking, running, climbing, and jumping, as well as qualities like speed, agility, flexibility, and strength. Additionally, these activities help children maintain good posture and prevent health issues.

Furthermore, families should cultivate adherence to sanitary and hygienic norms, adequate physical activity, engaging children in manageable household chores, and fostering a negative attitude toward alcohol and smoking. Parents must control the moderation of demands placed on the child, pay more attention to them, organize joint activities, enjoy leisure time together, walk, read, draw, etc. It is also essential to be a kind and polite person and teach children to do the same.

"Strive to instill good habits in your children from a young age.

These habits can be grouped into two main categories. The first category includes personal hygiene habits: using only personal toiletries, maintaining the condition of clothes and shoes, keeping clean, washing hands before meals, exercising each morning, and performing tempering procedures, properly caring for teeth, and more. The second category involves behavioral culture: not shouting, but politely asking, thanking adults and peers for fulfilling requests, not disturbing others at the table, during classes, or on walks. Teach children to greet and say goodbye, and to wipe their feet upon entering a room from outside. Maintain order in the children's room: put toys, books, and belongings in their place. They should also learn to give up their seat to adults, boys should offer seats to girls, and show care for younger ones. By following these simple rules, you will raise your children to be kind, considerate, and physically and emotionally healthy individuals", the author advised.
