Turkmen-Tajik political consultations were held in Dushanbe
21.11.2024 | 14:21 |On 20 November, political consultations between the diplomatic ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan were held in Dushanbe. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Tajik delegation was headed by his colleague, Deputy Foreign Minister Imomi Sodiq Ashurboyzada.
The meeting was an important step towards strengthening political and diplomatic relations between the two countries. The participants in the consultations emphasized the importance of regular dialogue at the highest level and focused on joint work within the framework of international and regional organizations, including within the mechanism of Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
The diplomats noted the positive dynamics of interaction within the framework of the existing Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. They expressed readiness to further improve the legal framework, which provides the basis for deepening bilateral relations.
Particular attention was paid to economic and investment cooperation during the talks. The sides discussed opportunities to increase the volume of export-import operations, expand the range of goods and services, and create favorable conditions for the development of mutually beneficial partnership in the trade and economic sphere.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was also high on the agenda. The diplomats noted the successful experience of cooperation in the field of science and education and stressed the importance of organizing regular cultural and scientific exchanges.
In the framework of his visit to Tajikistan, Ahmet Gurbanov held a separate meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin. The sides discussed a wide range of issues related to Turkmen-Tajik cooperation and exchanged views on topical international and regional issues of mutual interest.
