Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC discussed Afghan Issues in Ashgabat
22.11.2024 | 00:15 |On November 21, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Foreign Minister Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev and the Chinese delegation led by the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyun.
During the talks, the sides discussed key aspects of strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and China based on mutual benefit and long-term interests. The sides paid special attention to the implementation of previously reached agreements and exchanged views on current issues on the bilateral agenda.
It was highlighted that personal contacts between the leaders of Turkmenistan and China play an important role in the development of interstate dialogue. These meetings form a solid basis for strengthening Turkmen-Chinese relations and promote the activation of joint projects.
Special attention was given to issues related to ensuring stability and the reconstruction of Afghanistan. Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of multilateral platforms aimed at supporting the sustainable economic and social development of the country. In the context of preparations for the upcoming 5th meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, which will be held in Ashgabat, the parties discussed important aspects of the upcoming negotiations.
The interlocutors expressed a common position on continuing joint work to support Afghanistan. Supporting the principles of good-neighborliness and friendship, Turkmenistan and China reaffirmed their readiness to contribute to the economic recovery of the neighboring state.
