Recognizing non-formal education: A Representative of Turkmenistan attends International Seminar in France
07.11.2024 | 15:45 |From November 5-7, an international seminar titled “Improving the System of Recognizing Non-formal Education and Independently Acquired Skills” was held in Lyon, France. T. Gulamov, Head of the Department of Accreditation and Recognition of Foreign Educational Documents of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Education, participated in the event. Organized by the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the French AFPA agency, the event provided an opportunity for sharing various countries' experiences in recognizing non-formal education.
The main goal of the seminar was to introduce participating countries to France's VAE (Validation des Acquis de l'Expérience) – "Validation of Experience" system and to inspire new reforms in this area in their national systems. French methods and accumulated experience in this field were also shared, creating conditions for the exchange of important practices among participating countries.
In Turkmenistan, work is currently underway to improve the recognition of non-formal education. This includes developing a roadmap for assessing and recognizing professional qualifications, establishing a National Qualifications Framework, and making amendments to relevant legislative documents. Additionally, cooperation has been strengthened between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan in this area.
The seminar saw participation from representatives of European and Central Asian countries, including those from the Balkans and Eastern Mediterranean. The significance of this seminar is high for Turkmenistan, as international knowledge and exchange of ideas foster new approaches in the country.
