21.11.2024 | 15:00 |The grand opening of the II Turkmen-Uzbek Interregional Forum and the National Exhibition of Uzbek Goods was held yesterday at the "Türkmeniň ak öýi" in the city of Turkmenabat. The event brought together representatives of ministries, departments, regional administrations, businesses, and the public from both countries. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by performances from musical ensembles.
The forum and exhibition highlighted the dynamic interaction between the regions of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Trade and economic partnership occupy a central place in the relations between the two countries, which also thrive in areas such as energy, agriculture, culture, science, and education.
The Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Dilshod Rasulov, emphasized the importance of the forum:
“First of all, I would like to thank you for the hospitality extended to us here. Our aspiration to strengthen relations between our countries creates excellent opportunities for our entrepreneurs. By the end of 2023, the trade turnover between our countries exceeded one billion US dollars. However, this is not the limit — there is room to grow. We are proud that our products, made in Uzbekistan, have their niche on the global market.”
The exhibition showcased goods and services from Uzbek state structures and private companies operating in mining, metallurgy, oil and gas, chemical industries, and other sectors.
The pavilions featured products from mechanical engineering, construction materials, household appliances, food, and medical supplies, demonstrating the interest of Uzbek entrepreneurs in long-term cooperation.
Sultonkhon Khulmukhammedov, a representative of the Uzeltehsanoat Association, shared the organization's achievements and future plans:
“Today we are participating in this exhibition to present our products, including outdoor and indoor air conditioning units as well as ventilation equipment. In 2023, our exports to Turkmenistan amounted to about 7 million US dollars. This year, we plan to increase these figures. Participating in exhibitions like this helps us find new partners and strengthen cooperation.”
In the afternoon, business meetings were held to discuss the establishment of joint ventures, the exchange of expertise in innovative technologies, and the development of the agricultural, energy, textile, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Particular attention at the forum was given to cultural interaction. Dilovar Boltaeva, an embroiderer from the "Nagishbant" center in the city of Bukhara, shared insights into her craft:
“We represent national clothing decorated with hand embroidery, an art form with centuries of history. The secrets of this craft are passed down from generation to generation. Some items take several months to create. We offer our works to tourists visiting Bukhara and invite them to our center to see the creation process. This forum has provided an opportunity to exchange experiences with our Turkmen colleagues. While our crafts share common roots, there are differences: Turkmen artisans focus on geometric patterns, while our works often feature floral motifs and images of fruits.”
The day concluded with a concert by artists from both countries at the Seyitnazar Seydi State Music and Drama Theater.
The forum and exhibition continue, strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
