Oriented on making people closer

On Thursday, 26 September, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov, held a meeting with the Vice-Governor - Chairman of the Government of Astrahan Region, Denis Afanasyev.

The parties discussed the current state and issues related to the further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Astrakhan Region, focusing on the significant potential for collaboration in the transport, logistics, and shipbuilding sectors, as noted in the press release from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Traditional humanitarian contacts were also addressed - Gurbanov and Afanasyev exchanged views on prospects for interaction in the fields of education and culture.

On the same day, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan held a meeting with a delegation from Astrakhan Region. The parties expressed mutual interest in strengthening ties between the universities of the two countries and exchange of experience in educational programs, according to the ministry.

The Astrakhan side proposed to expand cooperation in the field of secondary vocational education by organizing joint seminars, while the Turkmen side expressed interest in developing training programs for specialists in sectors such as maritime and river transport, oil and gas industry, fishing, and tourism.

Representatives of the Astrakhan Region invited Turkmen universities to participate in the Assembly of the Association of Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian countries, which will be held in Astrakhan in October 2024. The Turkmen side expressed interest in participating in both the academic part of the event and in sports competitions among student teams of universities in the Caspian region.
