 Strategies for combating international drug trafficking discussed in Ashgabat

On 12 September, a briefing was held in Ashgabat on the “Goals, objectives, achievements and prospects of CARICC as a regional mechanism for countering the drug threat”.

The briefing, organized jointly by the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, brought together representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, heads and experts from diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the country.

During the event, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, Mahri Bashimova, delivered a speech. She noted that Turkmenistan will continue to promote active international and regional cooperation in overcoming modern threats and challenges, including within the framework of the CARICC projects.

The Director of CARICC, Atageldi Yazlyev and Regional Representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Oliver Stolpe also spoke at the opening of the briefing.

During the event, participants listened to presentations on the results of CARICC's work at the regional and international levels, as well as considered opportunities to expand cooperation in combating international drug trafficking, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
