 The 2nd Central Asian Parliamentary Forum was held in Khiva

The second inter-parliamentary forum of the Central Asian states took place today, on 12 September, in the Uzbek city of Khiva. A delegation from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in this regional event.

This forum is aimed at supporting cooperation among the Central Asian states at the parliamentary level, developing inter-parliamentary relations in the region, as well as disseminating positive experience of active participation of parliamentarians in the socio-economic development of the countries.

Within the framework of the conference, the participants shared national experience in improving the work of representative institutions, enhancing the participation of women and youth in the socio-economic life of the state, and also discussed expanding cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups and profile committees.

The first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States was held in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, in February 2023. At that time, it was proposed to hold the Inter-Parliamentary Forum annually in one of the Central Asian countries, not only in the capitals, but also in other cities that hold sacred and cultural-historical significance for our peoples.
