“Magtymguly Fragi changed the Turkmen poetic language, bringing it closer to folk speech. His work marked the beginning of the epoch, which experts consider part of a unique period in the history of Central Asian culture and called the “Golden Age” of Turkmen literature. The master's works are known throughout the world and do not lose their relevance, as they vividly reflect the enduring universal values - love for the Motherland, spirituality, humanism, peacefulness, a call for creation, friendship, and brotherhood,” the exhibition annotation says.
Among the exhibits of the exhibition “Posterity will remember Magtymguly” are the bibliographic indexes “History of publications of works by Magtymguly Fragi, 1879-2014” by Almaz Yazberdiyev, “Index of poems by Magtymguly” by Ahmetzaki Validi Togan, “Description of manuscripts of Magtymguly” by Annagurban Ashyrov.
The exhibition features a collection of the poet's poems in the Turkmen language, published by Orientalist Nikolai Ostroumov in Tashkent in 1907, and the first collection of the poems of the classic poet, which was released in a private printing press in Astrakhan in 1912.
The showcases present the author's works supplemented by translations into the languages of fraternal nations, which will interest thoughtful visitors. A special exhibit is an article by poet Arseny Tarkovsky on the challenges of translating the works of Magtymguly Fragi. Studies of the Turkmen poet's works have a separate place in the exposition.
The exhibition will run until the end of September.
The multifaceted activities of the Russian National Library are carried out on several territorially separated sites, including the historical complex of buildings of the Imperial Public Library in the center of St. Petersburg and the New Building, which is the main focus of the RNL's development, housing the main resources (collections, search systems, service departments, reading rooms).
