 Turkmen companies invited to participate in Kazan Halal Market

Turkmenistan and Tatarstan are considering the possibility of establishing joint companies for processing agricultural products. Reciprocal proposals for cooperation in the agro-industrial complex were voiced at the 9th meeting of the Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation.

The meeting of heads and experts from key economic sectors of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan took place in Kazan on 27 August. Cooperation in the field of agriculture was a separate topic on the agenda of the representative meeting.

“For seven months of this year, Tatarstan has exported agricultural products worth $3.3 million to Turkmenistan. These are mainly oil and fat products, ketchups, tomatoes, sauces, rye and wheat flour,” said Rustem Gaynullov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan. He noted that Tatarstan pays great attention to the development of the halal industry and invited Turkmen companies to participate in the annual exhibition-fair of halal products Kazan Halal Market to explore this market in the region.

Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Serdar Jorayev, added that last year the trade turnover increased by 13.4 per cent compared to 2022 and amounted to $52.3 million. At the same time, it was twice as much in 2019-2020.

“Turkmenistan and Tatarstan can develop various mechanisms of interaction aimed at implementing specific mutually beneficial joint projects in energy, industry, transport, agriculture, environmental protection, education, healthcare. We have a huge potential in the investment sphere, including the creation of joint ventures and the implementation of projects,” Jorayev stated.

Oleg Korobchenko, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, also noted that cooperation between enterprises of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan is carried out in a wide range of areas - engineering, oil and gas industry, medicine, and others. “However, the potential between our republics is much higher. And we need to use it,” he said.
