Turkmenistan and Singapore aim to give new impetus to partnership
19.07.2024 | 20:50 |On July 17, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with Director General of the Office for the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Samuel Tan.
The Turkmen side at the meeting was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serdar Muhammetdurdyev. According to the diplomatic department, the subject of negotiations was an analysis of the current state of cooperation and its prospects. Interaction on international platforms was also considered.
The diplomats agreed to continue working together at the level of foreign affairs agencies in order to develop relations between the two countries.
Singapore has shown interest in partnership with Turkmenistan in various sectors, including agriculture, investment, energy, and petrochemicals. One of the most promising topics for exchange of experience is the field of high technology, in which Singapore has become an example for the whole world of effective practices in creating innovation centers.
The parties have established cooperation in the field of higher education and internship of specialists for various industries, as well as within the framework of the project https://orient.tm/ru/post/60593/v-turmendenizderyaellary-sostoyalas-vstrecha-s-predstavitelyami-ibr-i-singapurskogo -porta to improve the efficiency of services in the port of Turkmenbashi.
The first Turkmenistan-Singapore business forum was held in August 2019 during the visit of National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, then the President of Turkmenistan, to this city-state. As a result of the forum, a package of agreements and memoranda on cooperation in the chemical industry, textile industry, banking sector, transport segment, between business circles and economic universities was signed.
