The new plant for the production of next-generation smartphones of the Chinese company Xiaomi in the Changping district in Beijing can operate 24 hours a day without people. This was stated by the company's CEO Lei Jun.
According to him, the plant, covering an area of 81,000 square meters, will be able to produce one smartphone per second. In particular, it will be involved in the production of the upcoming foldable phones Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 and Xiaomi MIX Flip.
Machines in an enterprise can communicate with each other. The plant can independently maintain cleanliness with dust removal at the micron level. The quality of products at the factory will be controlled by intelligent machines independently developed by Xiaomi.
The plant has 11 lines for the production of mobile phones, as well as lines for the production of automotive electronic parts.
The company said that this plant is just the beginning on the path to big changes.
Xiaomi has invested $330 million in developing a new manufacturing process. It has been certified as a "national reference intelligent manufacturing enterprise" with an annual production capacity of 10 million flagship smartphones.
