Google Chrome is once again recognized as the fastest browser in the world

Google's Google Chrome has once again become the fastest web browser in the world.

According to the results of the Speedometer 3.0 performance test, Google Chrome showed the highest result in the history of this test.

According to TechSpot, to achieve record numbers, Google engineers optimized the browser in several areas. In particular, they accelerated operations such as string processing and stylesheet deduplication (eliminating redundant copies), improved the visualization of form elements to save memory, and also made a number of improvements to the HarfBuzz text formatting engine in order to quickly work with Apple fonts.

Developed jointly by IT giants Apple, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla to objectively compare different browsers, the Speedometer 3.0 performance test simulates real-world user actions in web applications, such as adding tasks and editing text. Based on the speed at which these tasks are performed, the test evaluates the browser's performance.

Google Chrome's leadership in the browser market remains dominant. As of May 2024, its share is 65%. Apple's Safari has 18% and Microsoft's Edge has 5%.
