How the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution was celebrated in Tehran and Ashgabat

... Four and a half decades have passed since the disgraced Ayatollah Khomeini, who returned from France to Iran, who had been in exile since 1964, led the political processes unfolding in the country, which at one time led to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi being forced to emigrate.

This ended the 54-year rule of the Pahlavid dynasty, which in 1925 overthrew the Turkic Qajar dynasty, which had ruled Persia since 1796.

By the way, the name of the country Persia was changed to Iran on the initiative of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who in 1935 sent an official letter to the League of Nations with a corresponding request. However…

However, shortly after Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who turned out to be the last Iranian shah, left the country, it happened shortly before Khomeini returned from exile, as well as a number of clashes between supporters of the religious leader and the Shah's guards, the army declared its neutrality in the conflict. Thus, power ended up in the hands of the Provisional Government.

Based on the results of the referendum on the political system held on March 31, 1979, a Constitution was adopted in December, according to which the country was declared an Islamic Republic…

And yesterday, another 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution was widely celebrated in Iran. The main celebrations traditionally unfolded in the capital. Tehran's main square, Azadi (which means Freedom), was colorfully decorated with an installation dedicated to one of the most important dates in the modern history of the state, with flags, balloons, posters and banners with festive slogans everywhere.

The architectural symbol of the Iranian capital is a 45–meter tower, also called the Freedom Tower, which was painted in the colors of the national flag of Iran with the help of light and video effects.

The Freedom Tower, lined with faceted marble, was projected with video footage showing important events from the history of the birth and formation of the state, as well as the most significant achievements in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The country's successes were also demonstrated by numerous exhibitions and expositions. For example, a large-scale exhibition spread around the Freedom Tower, where achievements in the field of rocket science, modern science and technology, etc. were presented.

By the way, according to Iranian sources, Iran ranks 4th (after the United States, Russia and China) among countries that have independently produced satellites with a mobile solid-fuel engine, as well as 9th in terms of the number of successfully launched satellites and launch vehicles created by its own efforts.

Just the other day, in January, several research satellites were launched into space, the most important of which is considered to be Soraya, which is in orbit 750 km from Earth

According to Iranian media, about 25 million people took part in events across the country on this day, that is, almost every third or fourth resident of the country, since the population of Iran exceeds the mark of just over 88 million.

The center of universal attraction on this day was Tehran, whose numerous residents marched as part of festive processions organized along thirteen routes. Anyone could walk through them, and it didn't matter which one. Because all the routes led to Freedom Square.

The festive processions were attended by President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, who was accompanied by Vice President Mohammad Mohbery, heads of ministries and other leaders.

According to Tasnim News Agency, hundreds of foreign politicians, scientists, journalists and others came to the country for the celebrations.

It was also reported that on the eve of 4 thousand convicts gained freedom thanks to the amnesty in honor of the Revolution Day.

Many heads of state and government, including Central Asian countries, congratulated the leadership of Iran and the people of the republic on the national holiday

As reported by ORIENT, the president of the neutral state, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in his welcoming message, congratulating the president and the people of Iran, noted: "We highly appreciate the established multifaceted relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and declare our readiness for further development of cooperation based on the ancient traditions of good neighborliness."

Chairman of the People's Council (Halk Maslahaty) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his message to the President of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi also stressed that our countries and peoples are linked by centuries-old fraternal relations that will develop in the future.

The day before, an identical reception was held at the Iranian Embassy in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

The heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of countries belonging mainly to the category of the very vague concept of the "Global South", as well as UN structural units, gathered there.

The event at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran was attended by the head of the mission of the Catholic Church in Turkmenistan, Andrzej Madej.

And this is not surprising, because Turkmenistan has been famous since ancient times as a land where various denominations peacefully interacted, whose temples and religious attributes archaeologists found in the immediate vicinity.

And representatives of various faiths, including the cultural attache of the Apostolic Nunciature of the Vatican in Turkmenistan, Father Andrzej, have repeatedly told ORIENT readers about their peaceful coexistence and cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov announced the opening part of his speech in Farsi, which caused admiring smiles from the Iranian participants of the reception.

However, Rashid Ovezgeldyevich continued the subsequent part of his welcoming speech in his native language, from time to time interspersing flowery Persian phraseological units in his speech.

Like, for example, the proverb popular in the countries of the Muslim East (and not only there), according to which "On the Day of Judgment before Allah, your neighbor will become (or "will testify") your intercessor." Having said that, Rashid Ovezgeldyevich smoothly moved on to good-neighborly relations between the Turkmen and Iranian peoples, which are successfully developing in the historical aspect and at the present stage.

Without remaining in debt, the Iranian Ambassador Ali Mojtab Ruzbehani, accredited to Turkmenistan just three months ago, read in Turkmen an excerpt from a poem by Magtymguly Pyragy whose 300th anniversary will be widely celebrated in many countries of the world, including Iran:

Pyragy, tell people everything, you know
Don't cover your sins with your silence,
Let the minted words come from the heart,
And this will be a testament to your great-grandchildren!

In general, the Iranian ambassador devoted the main part of his speech to the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, the volume of trade turnover of which, according to the Iranian side, is about $ 470 million.

However, according to Ali Mojtab Ruzbehani, both countries strive to identify and realize potential opportunities for cooperation through such measures as intensification of trade, energy and transport cooperation, signing mutually beneficial documents, visits of official delegations of various levels, etc.

According to the Iranian diplomat, over the past four decades, his homeland has been able to achieve its lofty goals in various fields – the production of industrial and agricultural products, the creation of nanotechnology, the development of peaceful nuclear energy, etc., which is confirmed by statistics from reputable international institutions.

Thus, Ali Mojtab Ruzbehani noted that Iran currently ranks 4th in the world in nanoinnovations, as well as in infertility treatment, 7th in the production of nanopharmaceuticals, 15th in ophthalmology.

The Ambassador also said that the country he represents in Turkmenistan produces 97% of the medicines it needs, and during the pandemic it managed to master the technology of anti-coronavirus drugs, becoming one of the ten states producing the Covid vaccine.

The representatives of the fair sex present at the event drew attention to the words of the diplomat that women played a significant role in Iran's achievement of such success. They make up over half of the country's students, more than 25% of government leadership positions, 40% of doctors and 30% of teachers in Iranian universities.

There are 16 seats in the Parliament of the Islamic Council held by women, and currently Iran's national interests in various countries are represented by the diplomat's colleagues – five female ambassadors.

...This is how the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution was celebrated in two neighboring countries, which have been faithful to their good-neighborly relations for many centuries.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, concluded his speech with poetic lines by the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Pyragy, whose anniversary is being prepared to be celebrated in many parts of our planet. Including in Iran, where the ashes of the great poet are carefully preserved, to whom such lines about loyalty to ideals and intentions belong:

If a person is asleep or awake, he will be
Deeply faithful to his plans.
