From February 12, the Central Asian University for the Study of Environment and Climate Change Green University will begin its first academic semester, Gazeta.uz reports with reference to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, which is the founder of this university.

Training will begin in the master's programs “Sustainable Development”, “Sustainable Finance” and “Environmental Law”.

The training program is based on a system that is used in world practice: in the first year, students study in the Foundation Year program (base year), and then for three years in the bachelor’s program; those wishing to continue their studies are invited to enroll in a master’s program.

In addition to bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, the university will train non-core specialists in disciplines related to the environment.

“We and our neighbors have universities that train journalists, lawyers, and specialists in other fields. We have already agreed with them that students of these universities will take courses with us, take exams and will be able, in addition, to receive our diploma as an eco-journalist and eco-lawyer,” Minister of Ecology of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov commented.

Bachelor's students are offered three options: environmental and sustainable management; ecology and economics; ecology and public administration.

Master's programs: sustainable development; sustainable finance; environmental law; eco-journalism.

This academic year all classes are conducted in English. In the future, it is also planned to launch programs in Uzbek and Russian.

The training is paid, but applicants are also provided with 25 grant places for bachelor’s degrees and 20 places for master’s degrees, which cover the entire period of study at Green University. A special scholarship from the Minister of Ecology for gifted students has been introduced.

The university is located in the Tashkent region, on Darkhan street, Chimkent highway, 2. This is the building of the Forestry Technical School. The new building will be built on the territory of New Tashkent.
