“Twisted” skyscrapers will appear in China

A complex of “twisted” high-rise buildings will be built in Shenzhen, which will become the new headquarters of the Chinese technology corporation Tencent. The project is being carried out by the architectural bureau of Ole Schieren.

The complex, called Tencent Helix, includes four skyscrapers, the tallest of which will rise 153 meters above the ground. In the center of the modern urban “vortex” there will be a green area - a huge open-air garden where employees can relax in their free time. The external façade will be covered with prismatic glass panels capable of transmitting a lot of sunlight.

According to rough estimates, the total area of Tencent Helix is about 500,000 m2 - larger than Apple's headquarters in California (almost twice) and Amazon's headquarters (about three times).

“Tencent Helix's design reflects the company's rapid growth. This is symbolized by a curved structure that rises to the sky with a rotating slope. The silhouette of the complex resembles the spiral movement of a vortex. The swirling architectural forms combine creativity and technology in a very attractive space,” the director of the architectural office overseeing the project shares.

The completion date of the project is still unknown, but from the renderings it is already clear that the new office of the Chinese tech giant will be a real architectural miracle.
