The Turkmen weightlifter won silver at the youth World Championship
21.11.2023 | 16:10 |Gaygysyz Torayev, representing Turkmenistan at the World Youth Weightlifting Championships in Mexico, became the silver medalist in the weight category up to 81 kg.
Having mastered a 151 kg barbell in the snatch and 184 kg in the clean and jerk, the Turkmen athlete showed a result of 355 kg in the two–man event. The world championship in this weight category went to Kazakhstan's Ediga Emberdi with a tiny difference – only 1 kg.
The Turkmen delegation includes 5 more athletes: two of them – Gulyalek Kakamyradova and Perhat Bagtyyarov have already performed in the past days. Three more: Anamjan Rustamova, Resul Rejepov and Shahzadbek Matyakubov — will compete for the championship title in their weight categories in the following days, before the closing of the championship on November 23.
