In the USSR, the Nepomnyashchikh family lived in the Turkmen city of Kizil-Arvat. Starting from the 8th grade, Valery Nepomnyashchy played professionally in a brass and pop orchestra. His playing career ended early - at the age of 25: he had health problems. But he did not leave football and became a coach. At first he worked at the Ashgabat FSM, where he educated young football players for eight years, and since 1979 he became the coach of Kolkhozchi (now Kopetdag), the best club in the republic.
In 1982, Nepomnyashchem was assigned to coach the youth national team of the Turkmen SSR, and then returned to the FSM again.
In 1988, he received an offer from abroad. He became the head coach of the Cameroon national team, which he led to the 1990 World Cup and performed a miracle by reaching the quarterfinals, removing the Argentine national team with Maradona from the way.
After this feat, Nepomnyashchy became a sought-after coach. He managed to work in Turkey, China, South Korea and Japan, and left good impressions almost everywhere.
In 2006, Valery Kuzmich decided to return to Central Asia. He headed "Pakhtakor" and the national team of Uzbekistan. In 2018, Nepomnyashchy completed his coaching career, but even now he says that if he gets a call from Tom and is asked to help, he will consider the offer.
