Saudi Arabia showed renderings of a new “crystalline” skyscraper

The Neom Area Development Agency, which aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a 21st century country, has released renderings of a new crystalline skyscraper. The building was designed by the British architectural bureau Zaha Hadid Architects for the Troien ski resort.

The crystal-shaped skyscraper, 330 meters high, will sit on top of a mountain overlooking an artificial lake in the center of the Troien ski resort. The tower will have observation decks and restaurants.

The new resort, which will offer “year-round open-air skiing,” is being built about 50 kilometers off the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, in mountainous terrain, at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,600 meters.

The tower, like the ski resort itself, should be ready for the 2029 Asian Winter Games.
