Turkmengaz invited German companies to develop the Galkynysh field and build TAPI
30.09.2023 | 10:00 |The state concern "Turkmengaz" has invited German business to actively participate in projects for the development of the Galkynysh field and the construction of the transnational TAPI gas pipeline (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India), in the implementation of which the country aims to attract advanced technologies and capital.
Any cooperation is welcome, from direct investments to contracts for the construction or supply of equipment with financing from export credit agencies, Chairman of the state concern "Turkmengaz" Maksat Babayev said, making a presentation at the Turkmen-German business forum in Berlin on September 29.
During the presentation, the potential hydrocarbon resources of Turkmenistan were announced: 71.2 billion tons of oil, of which 53 billion tons on land and 18.2 billion tons at sea.
Turkmenistan's status as one of the largest energy powers in the world has been confirmed by the independent British company Gaffney, Cline & Associates, which assessed natural gas reserves at the Galkynysh field, Babayev noted.
Negotiations are currently underway with oil and gas companies in China and the UAE regarding the second and third stages of the field development phase. The selection of contractors for the fourth stage project is also being carried out.
One of the priority areas of investment in the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan is the development of the resources of the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea, the head of the state concern "Turkmengaz" noted. Based on production sharing agreements with Petronas Carigali, Dragon Oil and Buried Hill, Turkmenistan is implementing four such projects in the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea, and three projects onshore with the participation of Eni, Mitro International and CNPC.
Babayev separately stressed that currently Turkmengaz cooperates with several German companies — with BASF SE for the purchase of chemical products, with Siemens Energy for the overhaul of power turbines and the purchase of spare parts, as well as with Abel GmbH, Sulzer Pumps and RMA for the purchase of spare parts and equipment.
The head of the Turkmen state Concern also invited business partners from the financial sector and the oil and gas industry of Germany to the International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan –2023" (OGT-2023), which will be held on October 25-27 in Ashgabat.
