 The delegation of the Iranian province of Gulistan held negotiations in Ashgabat

Cross-border cooperation between the Balkan region in western Turkmenistan and the Gulistan province in north-eastern Iran was discussed at a meeting in Ashgabat. They talked about trade and economic contacts, transport connectivity and transit, as well as cultural and humanitarian dialogue.

The delegation of the Iranian province led by Governor Ali Mohammad Zanganeh was received on Thursday by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hadjiev, according to the website of the country's Foreign Ministry. “During the meeting, the parties noted the consistent development of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran,” the information says.

Guests from Gulistan arrived in Ashgabat to participate in events marking the 32nd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan, the press service of the diplomatic department added.

The governor of Gulistan also held talks with the Minister of Environment of Turkmenistan. According to Iranian media, at this meeting issues of combating desertification and protecting the natural resources of the Caspian Sea were discussed, in particular, joint measures to prevent its shallowing.

We previously reported that an exhibition of Iranian industrial goods under the Iran Project brand will be held in the Turkmen capital in November this year, and a meeting of the joint commission on cooperation between the two countries will be held in October.
