 The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the OSCE Climate Change Conference

The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Charyyar Chetiyev took part in the OSCE Conference on Climate Change, which was held in Vienna.

Speaking to the meeting participants, the head of the Turkmen delegation spoke about the country's achievements in combating climate change and outlined national priorities in this area.

Thus, the priority tasks for Turkmenistan within the framework of the national strategy in the field of climate change are:

  • improvement of hydrometeorological observations of weather and climate change in the country, development and implementation of measures to mitigate the consequences and adaptation to climate change;
    • implementation of measures to save fuel and energy resources and stabilize greenhouse gas emissions until 2030 through the use of energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies; -raising the level of international cooperation in the field of measures to combat climate change.

The conference was hosted by OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid. It was attended by ministers, climate envoys and other high-ranking political figures of the OSCE participating and partner countries, representatives of international organizations and civil society, and experts.

The conference provided a platform to discuss the potential implications of climate change for security and stability in the OSCE area.
