Turkmenistan adopted the Roadmap for joining the Global Methane Commitment
17.06.2023 | 23:58 |President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the Roadmap for the development of international cooperation for 2023-2024 in order to study the issue of Turkmenistan's accession to the Global Methane Commitment.
The corresponding resolution of the head of state also approved an action plan for the implementation of this Roadmap and ordered the relevant ministries and departments to ensure the implementation of the measures outlined in it.
Earlier this month, an intersectoral commission to reduce methane emissions was established in Turkmenistan.
The Global Methane Reduction Commitment is an initiative in which members who join, agree to take voluntary action to contribute to a collective effort to reduce global methane emissions by 2030 by at least 30% from 2020 levels .
Today, about 120 countries have joined the initiative, accounting for 70% of the global economy and half of methane emissions.
