Ashgabat hosts the second conference on “Parliamentary diplomacy in the OSCE space”

This conference aims to explore how parliamentary diplomacy can foster dialogue and build bridges for a more secure and peaceful future.
The inaugural conference was held in Ashgabat on May 16, 2023.
This year's event brings together representatives from the Mejlis, the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, and parliaments across Europe and Central Asia. The conference features a plenary session and three panel discussions, focusing on the critical role of parliamentary diplomacy in maintaining peace, the importance of youth engagement in addressing climate challenges, and building a sustainable future.
The conference highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE, particularly between the Mejlis and the Parliamentary Assembly. Participants emphasized the pivotal role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening international cooperation, trust, and mutual understanding.
The enduring relevance of Turkmenistan's policy of neutrality, including the 'Friends of Neutrality' group at the UN, was underscored. These initiatives contribute significantly to regional and global cooperation.
The Speaker of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, Pia Kauma, expressed gratitude to the Turkmen leadership for the successful organization of the conference and their contributions to fostering dialogue and addressing global challenges. She highlighted Central Asia as a prime example of the positive outcomes of cooperation and dialogue.
This conference marks another significant step forward in strengthening parliamentary diplomacy as a vital tool for building peace and sustainable development.
