 Transport connectivity between Europe and Asia: Turkmenistan's role in developing global corridors

A conference dedicated to transport connectivity between Europe and Asia was held in Brussels. Key representatives of the European Commission, diplomats, and transport experts attended the event. Among the participants were Henrik Hololei, Principal Adviser to the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Samuel Doveri, Director of the European Neighbourhood Council, Ayhan Zeytinoglu, Chairman of the Board of the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), heads of missions of Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan to the European Union, as well as representatives of think tanks, transport companies, and media.

During the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan delivered a speech, highlighting the country's significant achievements in developing transport infrastructure. He noted that Turkmenistan is actively investing in improving roads, ports, railways, and airports, strengthening its role as a key bridge between Europe and Asia. The Ambassador also recalled the close partnership with the European Union and expressed commitment to continuing work on projects aimed at reducing cargo delivery times and improving the quality of transport services.

During the discussion special attention was paid to the newly created and launched transport coordination platform between the European Union and Central Asia in Ashgabat, initiated as part of cooperation with the EU. The platform aims to coordinate transport projects, improve transit routes, attract investments, and develop "smart" solutions for optimizing logistics.

Speakers emphasized the importance of transport connectivity in strengthening economic ties between Europe and Central Asia. Particular attention was paid to creating favorable conditions for international cooperation and attracting the private sector to implement key transport initiatives.

Participants also noted the strategic role of Central Asia and Turkey as regions connecting Europe and Asia. The European Union reaffirmed its interest in further developing transport connectivity aimed at reducing cargo delivery times and improving infrastructure quality, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium reported.

The event served as a convenient platform for exchanging views and developing new initiatives aimed at developing a sustainable and integrated transport system between Europe and Asia. Turkmenistan once again demonstrated its commitment to actively participating in international projects that support the development of global connectivity.
