Why is it important for Turkmen citizens to study in the Russian Federation? – students of the Russian State University RGU named after Rubin discuss
12.06.2023 | 01:21 |Cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation is of a strategic nature. Thus, according to open sources, more than 30 thousand of our fellow citizens are studying at universities in a friendly country.
Among them are students of one of the most prestigious universities of the Russian Federation – the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas – Gurbanguly Atajanov and Ayhan Chagylov.
And today – on the Day of Russia – ORIENT publishes a letter addressed to our editorial office from Turkmen students receiving knowledge at this university.
In Moscow, our young compatriots conquer specialties that are important for the development of the country's fuel and energy complex. The day is not far off when the acquired knowledge and acquired skills will be useful to them in becoming future masters of their craft.
Graduates of the Joint Turkmen-Russian Pushkin School, and now students of a research university, wrote about this and many other things in their letter in the recent past.
"The most important thing a person has is the Motherland!". We have often heard this from parents and school teachers, from older people and those who have already studied abroad and returned to their native lands. But we acutely felt the depth of these simple words when we ourselves left the Homeland."
This is what Ayhan and Gurbanguly write in their letter. They are taking the first steps of independent life, but, despite their young age, they are beginning to realize all the responsibility that their parents, teachers and Homeland have placed on them, sending them to study abroad. It will not take much time, and their knowledge and skills acquired in one of the best universities in Russia will be used by the energy complex of Turkmenistan.
Of course, they are not alone, although they are thousands of kilometers away from their homeland, because they have never lost touch with it. And in Gubkin, together with them, 50 more of their peers from different parts of our country will learn the basics of oil production in various specialties.
Ayhan Chagylov, for example, is trained in professional maintenance and operation of oil fields. And when he returns to his homeland, his knowledge, accumulated together with practical activities in high-tech fields, will help him in the difficult work of tracking dozens of wells at the same time.
"We will have a huge responsibility on our shoulders for the effective functioning of the development facility," Ayhan writes. – There are several dozen wells at the disposal of the developer and for each of them you need to determine a lot of parameters. For example, what equipment to put into a drilling well, at what speed to pump oil, or how to maintain pressure inside the reservoir. We begin to get acquainted with all the practical subtleties of our future specialty even during training. This is helped by the latest technologies that are used in our modern laboratories."
"An oilman," the authors of the letter argue, "is a surprisingly interesting profession. It combines the effective use of high technologies and high-tech technology with a subtle ability to feel the earth, to be in harmony with it, to realize the importance of its preservation. Here the exact sciences are closely intertwined with environmental ethics and education, which have been instilled in us since school."
"From an early age, I realized that I would connect my life with engineering. By the end of school, I decided that I would continue my studies in the field of oil and gas business. This is how my path of a future oilman began," Ayhan Chagylov continues.
...Upon arrival in Russia, our compatriots try not just to get much-needed knowledge, but also to test themselves in completely different conditions. Thanks to this variability, young Turkmen specialists join the ranks of enterprises and organizations, sharing the experience of foreign practices with their colleagues-graduates of Turkmen universities.
"In addition to studying, our students also take an active part in the social life of the faculty, including sports, taking prizes and setting individual achievements."
...And here is what Gurbanguly Atajanov, a student from Gubkin, writes about his studies.
"I am studying at the Faculty of Oil and Gas Field Development, majoring in oil and gas well drilling. Having mastered the peculiarities of this profession at an oil and gas university, after graduation, we will be responsible for the entire stage of well construction. Mainly, this is the design and operation, as well as the development of new deposits. It is important to know and understand the whole process of their development in stages: from building a well model to calculating the economic efficiency of the field.
Studying at such an Alma mater as the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas is far from easy. It happens that by the end of the semester we have to study almost until the morning. In due time, we need to master a large amount of material in such different areas as geology, economics, theoretical mechanics, etc.
Our university is one of the prestigious universities in Moscow, which in two years will celebrate the 95th anniversary year since its opening. The University cooperates both with the largest oil and gas companies in Russia (Rosneft, Gazprom, Novatek, and many others), and with many universities around the world, including the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshigeldi Kakayev in Ashgabat," writes Gurbanguly Atajanov.
Why is it so important for our compatriots to acquire knowledge and professional skills in foreign universities, where representatives of different countries and speakers of other cultures study?
We find the answer in their letter:
– The practice of broad international communication can fully unlock the potential of scientific creation and vision of the scientific picture of the world as a whole. And this is very important in such an internationally significant area as the oil and gas industry.
...The authors of the letter concluded their discussions about the place and role of young people in the life of their country with the idea that, upon returning to their homeland, they will stand on a par with their peers-graduates of various foreign and domestic universities, and like many thousands of young Turkmens, they will contribute to the prosperity of their native Turkmenistan.
