Issues of transport diplomacy were discussed at the conference in the "Turkmenaragatnashyk" agency
25.05.2023 | 18:08 |A conference was held at the Polytechnic Secondary Vocational School of the "Turkmenaragatnashyk" Agency of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the announcement of November 26 as the "World Day of Sustainable Transport".
The relevant Resolution was adopted on May 16 at the 70th plenary session of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan and with the unanimous support of the UN Member States.
The speeches emphasized the position of Turkmenistan in the field of global transport and communication cooperation. In this regard, 4 resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2021 on the initiative of Turkmenistan were mentioned, designed to bring cooperation in this area to a qualitatively new level.
In turn, the 2014 document "The Role of Transport and transit corridors in ensuring international cooperation for sustainable development" is the first document of the UN General Assembly, which formalized the creation of a global partnership on sustainable transport.
In November 2016, Turkmenistan hosted the first UN Global Conference on Sustainable Transport, in 2022 — the first forum "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development".
The country's roads, railways, sea and air routes play an important role in realizing the export potential and enhancing international cooperation. The branches of the transport complex make a significant contribution to the growth of the national economy of the country. Transportation is an important indicator of the overall level of economic activity.
