Russian Drama Theater named after A. S. Pushkin in Ashgabat will receive financial support from the Russian Federation

Russian theaters from 10 countries will receive financial support from the Russian Federation in 2023. State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alla Manilova announced this on Friday at the plenary session of the fourth international conference "Russian Theater Abroad as an Institute of Russian Culture."

Among the recipients of funding, she named the Pushkin Russian Drama Theater in Ashgabat, TASS reported. Also, according to her, this theater will receive support from the Russian Federation in resolving “infrastructural” issues.

Manilova noted that the financial support of foreign Russian theaters is carried out in two directions: the purchase of the most modern theatrical stage equipment and support for premiere productions. “5 million rubles-for equipment, 5 million rubles-for performances,” she explained.

Russian theaters in Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and South Ossetia will also receive financial support.

Manilova specified that the source of funding for Russian theaters would be the autonomous non-profit organization Russian Seasons.
