BelTA: Belarus plans to complete the SCO accession procedure by June

Belarus intends to complete all the necessary procedures for joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization by the June summit in Delhi. This was stated by President Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, BelTA reports.

"As an observer, we were seriously preparing to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Therefore, we will definitely be able to meet the deadlines by June — until we meet again in Delhi," Lukashenko said, noting that this is a fast and serious pace.

Since 2010, Belarus has been a dialogue partner of the SCO, since 2015 it has become an observer country of the organization. Last summer, Belarus applied to join the SCO as a member state.

On February 9 of this year, Lukashenko signed a decree that approved a draft memorandum on the country's commitment to obtain the status of a member of the SCO.
