The Turkmen judoka (judo fighter) became the bronze medalist of the European Open Championship
14.02.2023 | 07:48 |Judoka of the national team of Turkmenistan Hekim Agamamedov won a bronze medal at the European Judo Open in the weight category up to 66 kg, which was held on February 11-12 in Sofia (Bulgaria).
According to ORIENT in the Judo Federation of Turkmenistan, in the preliminary tournament Hekim Agamamedov defeated Kazakhstani Dastan Shayakhmetov and Spaniard Sotillo Gomez.
At the next stage of the tournament, the Turkmen judoka was defeated by the Italian Sagiano Luca, getting into the round of "consolation" duels.
In them, Hekim Agamamedov was stronger than Bulgarian Bayan Yotov and Briton Charlie Young, thereby winning the bronze medal of the championship.
The gold award of the championship in the weight category up to 66 kg went to Ukrainian judoka Mikita Holoborodko. In second place is the representative of Kazakhstan Gumar Kyrgyzbayev. In addition to Hekim Agamamedov, Armenian Artem Halachyan took third place.
Last September, Hekim Agamamedov won the gold medal of the 2022 European Open Judo Championship in Austria in the weight category up to 66 kg.
The national team of Turkmenistan in the open European Championship-2023 was represented by 18 judoists. In total, about four hundred athletes from 43 countries took part in the tournament.
