US Ambassador to Turkmenistan - Preserving Cultural Heritage and More ...
23.09.2019 | 04:16 |The other day, the head of the US diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan, Mr. M.S.Klimow, visited the Lebap region.
There, over one and a half hundred kilometers from the regional administrative center - the city of Turkmenabat - there is a monument of the past “Caravanserai Dayakhatyn”, where work to preserve this historical object was carried out by specialists of the National Directorate for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical Monuments and culture. Financial support for this project was provided by the "Fund of Ambassadors for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage" of the United States Department of State.
The preservation of the Dayakhatyn monument is designed for three stages. To date, within the framework of the second stage, regular scheduled work has been carried out, in particular, the main fragments of the external cladding have been restored, the arches of the domes have been reinforced, the walls on the north and east sides of the monument have been restored, etc.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Turkmenistan Mr. Matthew S.Klimow attended the ceremony marking the completion of the second stage of restoration work at the Dayakhatyn Monument, where he gave a speech and made a fact-finding walk around the historic site, gave an interview to ORIENT.
Let me remind you that our film crew returned from Lebap, where, together with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkmenistan A. Blokhin, we participated in the ceremony of taking land from the burial place of soldiers of different nationalities defending the planet from the fascist threat. They, who were seriously wounded on the fronts of World War II, were recovering on Turkmen soil. But many of them found their last refuge here.
Let me also remind that ORIENT's motto is “Oriented on making people closer!” Which is very important when the modern world is multipolar and not always justifiably antagonistic in many respects - on political, ideological, religious and other issues.
The American "Fund of Ambassadors for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage" supports projects in various areas, including the restoration of monuments, which are Muslim shrines.
Maybe this kind of interaction between countries and peoples will help them find a common language, common ground, in the end, to solve the most important issue today - not to let our planet die.
