Turkmenistan participated in the meeting of the High-level Committee of ECO countries in Tehran
03.02.2025 | 19:45 |Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov took part in the 1st meeting of the High-level Committee of Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) countries, which took place on February 3 in the city of Tehran.
The meeting was also attended by heads of regional organizations, specialized agencies, regional institutes and ECO divisions.
The agenda included issues of developing financial and budgetary cooperation within the framework of the ECO, reviewing the implementation of the goals of the "ECO Vision 2025" and improving the mechanisms of this multilateral structure.
Ahmet Gurbanov voiced Turkmenistan's positions on priority areas of cooperation and proposals for the ECO development strategy. He focused on Turkmenistan's initiatives to create a Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity, an Alliance for Cooperation in Global Energy Security and Sustainable Development, and the transition to a circular economy.
Along with this, the importance of the effective implementation of the ECO Trade Agreement as an instrument of regional integration, promotion of tourism, strengthening of human capital and institutional capacity was noted.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a short meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the ECO Secretary General Asad Majid Khan. The parties exchanged views on the state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ECO.
