Caspian littoral countries will extend the ban on commercial fishing of sturgeon in 2023
21.12.2022 | 09:11 |The Commission for the Conservation and Rational Use of Aquatic Biological Resources and Management of their Joint Stocks of the Caspian Sea is discussing the extension of the ban on commercial fishing of sturgeon species in 2023, as well as the restoration of sturgeon stocks. It is planned that the catch of sturgeon in 2023 will be carried out only for research purposes and for artificial reproduction.
Representatives of Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are taking part in the 6th session of the Commission. The meeting was organized by the Kazakh side.
The session reviewed the results of scientific research on the state of stocks of commercial species of aquatic biological resources.
On September 29, 2014, an Agreement on the conservation and Rational use of Aquatic Biological resources of the Caspian Sea was signed in Astrakhan. To implement it, a Commission for the Conservation and Rational use of Aquatic biological resources and the management of their joint reserves of the Caspian Sea was established.
