Mangistau and Balkan may restore a 5-day visa-free regime: meeting in Aktau

During the meeting, the parties discussed the program for the development of strategic partnership for 2025-2027 and priority areas of interregional cooperation.
Welcoming the guests, the Akim of the region assured that the region fully supports the development of mutual partnership between the Mangistau region and the Balkan velayat in all areas. He noted the great potential for the implementation of specific projects in the oil and gas sector, logistics, agriculture, culture and tourism.
The parties supported the initiative to restore a 5-day visa-free regime for residents of border areas, noting that this will help strengthen humanitarian, cultural and economic ties. An intention was expressed to jointly implement specific measures aimed at deepening interregional cooperation.
According to the press service of the Akim of the Mangistau region, in the first half of 2025, its trade turnover with Turkmenistan amounted to 9.2 million US dollars, which is 19% more than in the same period last year. Including exports - 2 million, imports - 7.2 million US dollars.
In this region, there are 20 joint ventures with the participation of Turkmen capital and 35 students from Turkmenistan are studying.
