Turkmenistan and UNESCO discuss the development of digital education and AI
28.08.2025 | 17:00 |On September 28, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Minister of Education, A. Atayev, and the Director of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, Tao Zhan.
The negotiations were also attended by UNESCO advisor Tigran Yepoyan and AI program specialist Tatyana Murovana. Representatives from relevant departments of the Ministry of Education were present and shared national priorities for modernizing the education system.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the strategic importance of Turkmenistan’s partnership with UNESCO in the context of developing modern educational technologies and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They discussed the digitalization of education, the implementation of innovations, and the professional development of teaching staff.
UNESCO proposed new areas for cooperation, including: the development of educational infrastructure, training for teachers in artificial intelligence (AI) skills, using AI for knowledge assessment, promoting the concept of lifelong learning, and integrating intelligent bot systems into higher education institutions. Special attention was also given to projects focused on promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening relationships between parents and children.
The negotiations confirmed a high level of trust and mutual interest in further developing the partnership. Both parties expressed their intention to work toward creating an advanced digital educational environment and improving the quality of education in Turkmenistan.
