Artificial Intelligence is threatening the labor market, with unemployment rising among IT specialists

A recent study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has revealed a concerning trend: the unemployment rate among young IT specialists in the U.S. has reached 6%. This is more than double the rate in other fields, indicating the growing impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market.

According to the analysis, the situation is particularly challenging for junior programmers, among whom the unemployment rate is 7.5%. Major IT companies, including Amazon and Meta, are opting to replace junior employees with AI coding assistants. This creates a significant imbalance, as the demand for experienced specialists continues to grow.

Jad Tarifi, the founder of Google’s first generative AI team, warns that lawyers and doctors could be the next to face the threat of job displacement. He believes that their traditional training systems are vulnerable to automation. Tarifi advises young people to choose more niche fields, such as biology, where the role of AI is not yet as prominent.
