Turkmenistan and Japan Discuss Development of Cooperation in Education
18.09.2025 | 15:00 |On September 16, a meeting was held between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, D. Gurbangeldiyev, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan, Hiroshi Sasaki. The parties discussed long-term prospects of cooperation and exchanged views on future projects aimed at expanding interaction in the field of education.
The Minister of Education of Turkmenistan emphasized that bilateral cooperation has gained new meaning and content as a result of the agreements reached during the official visit of the Esteemed President to Japan in April of this year. He also noted the growing interest in studying the Japanese language in the country, which is currently being learned by thousands of Turkmen schoolchildren and students.
During the meeting, the following proposals were put forward:
• Joint educational programs on hydrogen energy.
• Professional development of teachers and students in the field of exact sciences through Japanese JICA and MEXT programs.
• Expansion of cooperation in higher and secondary educational institutions of Turkmenistan where the Japanese language is taught.
• Participation of representatives of Japan’s education sector in the international exhibition and scientific conference “Healthcare, Education, and Sports in the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State,” to be held in Ashgabat on October 10–12.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue mutual support in order to achieve the set goals.
