Central Asia and China strengthen customs cooperation with three new agreements
23.05.2025 | 15:15 |The second meeting of the heads of customs services within the "Central Asia – China" format has concluded in Almaty. The forum was organized by the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan. Heads of customs administrations from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the event.
Participants discussed key aspects of multilateral customs cooperation, with a particular emphasis on digitalization and the implementation of innovations in the customs sphere. Each country shared its experiences in process automation. Significant attention was paid to improving the operation of border crossing points, optimizing border control and increasing their throughput capacity, as well as issues of personnel training and the exchange of expertise.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the consideration of draft documents for the upcoming Second "Central Asia – China" Summit and the signing of three key agreements:
- The Protocol of the Second Meeting of the Heads of Customs Services of "Central Asia – China".
- The Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation in the Field of Non-Intrusive Inspection and Intelligent Image Recognition.
- The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Customs Risk Management.
These documents formalize the agreements of the parties on the further development of cooperation in the customs sphere.
