Teachers of Turkmen universities made a working visit to Slovakia within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project

From 5 to 12 April 2025, within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Strengthening Higher Education Capacity” – “Integrating Environment, Societal Needs and Good Governance in Education and Employment in Central Asia” (ESGCA), a group of specialists consisting of teachers from the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and the International Oil and Gas University named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev made a working visit to Bratislava (Slovakia), the MET reports.

The purpose of this visit was to participate in short-term trainings on the development of a master's program covering ecosystem and societal challenges, as well as good governance issues. The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STUBA) was selected as a partner educational institution for the implementation of this program. This time the seminar was called “Practical Applications of ESG in Sustainable Industry, Higher Education and Water Management”.

The participants of this project are leading universities from Italy, Romania, Slovakia and several countries of the Central Asian region. The first seminar was held in Sibiu, Romania, on March 22–28, 2025.

During the trainings, the participants got acquainted with advanced teaching methods, innovative approaches to creating educational programs, as well as current global trends in the field of ecology and management.

The teachers discussed how to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills necessary to train specialists who can work in the field of ecology, social management and sustainable development.

As part of the visit, the participants were given a tour of the Slovnaft oil refinery complex located in Bratislava, Slovakia. This plant, part of the MOL group of companies, was built in 1957. This plant complex actively implements the concepts of “green production”, which includes the use of environmentally friendly materials, optimization of energy and water consumption, and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. The teachers received information about the company's strategies for minimizing the impact on the environment, which is of great importance for educational institutions training future specialists in the field of ecology and sustainable development.

The ESGCA project continues its work and will influence the development of higher education in the countries of Central Asia, ensuring that the future generation of specialists is ready to solve global environmental and social problems.
