 Turkmenistan and Qatar seek new growth points in trade and economic cooperation

On March 3, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting with a Turkmen trade delegation, headed by the head of the Foreign Economic Analytics and Information Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.

Acting Director General of the Qatar Chamber, Ali Said Bu Sharbak Al Mansouri, welcomed the Turkmen representatives in the presence of a number of Qatari businessmen.

The delegation included heads of ten Turkmen companies representing various sectors of the economy, including the food industry, greenhouse and agriculture, fertilizer production, livestock farming and consulting services.

The key topic of the talks was the development of cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries. The parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties, as well as investment opportunities and a favorable investment climate in Turkmenistan and Qatar. The meeting participants emphasized promising areas for cooperation between Qatari and Turkmen enterprises and noted the growing role of the private sector in enhancing trade between the two countries.

Ali Al Mansouri noted the strong historical ties between Qatar and Turkmenistan and the mutual interest of business circles in expanding economic cooperation. The representative of the Qatar Chamber also emphasized the interest of the Qatari business community in investment projects in Turkmenistan, especially in sectors such as tourism, sports, real estate, agriculture and food production. He assured the Turkmen delegation of the readiness of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry to provide comprehensive support to companies from Turkmenistan planning to invest in Qatar, including providing analytical data on the market and information on investment opportunities.

The Turkmen side noted the interest of the leadership of Turkmenistan and Qatar in developing trade relations and the leading role of private business in implementing these initiatives through joint economic projects and strategic alliances. Representatives of the delegation emphasized that the Qatari market is of considerable interest and offers broad prospects.

The main goal of the visit of the Turkmen delegation was to study the potential for cooperation between enterprises of the two countries and discuss specific steps to expand cooperation, including the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed between the chambers to support the private sector.

During the meeting, the Turkmen delegation made presentations on the textile industry and traditional Turkmen carpet weaving. The competitive advantages of the industry, 60 specialized factories producing a wide range of high-quality textile products from natural cotton were discussed.

The Turkmen delegation expressed its readiness to expand cooperation with Qatari partners and increase the export of Turkmen goods to the Qatari market, guaranteeing high quality standards and competitive prices.
