Turkmenistan Children's Chess Championship gathered more than 300 players
27.02.2025 | 03:45 |Ashgabat hosted the Turkmenistan Chess Championship among children under 8, 10 and 12 years old. The tournament gathered the best young chess players at the specialized Chess and Checkers School, who competed in classical chess, rapid and blitz. More than 300 players demonstrated their skills in this exciting championship.
Lebap takes the medal score
The most impressive results were demonstrated by the representatives of Lebap, who took first place in the overall team score with a total of 26 medals. The team has 7 gold, 12 silver and 7 bronze medals. This achievement was the result of the hard work of the coaching staff and the young players themselves.
The second place went to the team of Mary velayat, which won 12 medals, including 5 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze. The third place in the medal score was taken by players from Ashgabat, who managed to climb to the podium with 9 medals (4 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze).
The chess academy "Küşt Älemi" did not stand aside, which also demonstrated a good game, winning 5 awards: 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Encouraging young talents
A special feature of this tournament was the decision of the Chess Federation to award separately children under 6 years old, born in 2019 and later. This innovation became an excellent opportunity to encourage young talents: another 18 players, who were 6 years old and younger, received gold, silver and bronze medals. However, these awards did not affect the overall medal count of the tournament.
The organization of the tournament was made possible thanks to the support of a number of partners, including the Readit bookstore, the Küşt Älemi chess academy, Sypayy, HIL-TM, the Belle app and the ORIENT media platform.
