A new program for running Windows applications on other computers has been released
15.08.2025 | 14:05 |On August 12, developers of the CrossOver program released a new version, 25.1.0. This special program lets users run applications made for Windows on computers with other operating systems, like macOS (on Apple computers) and Linux. The new version mainly fixes bugs, which is especially important for video game players and those who use office software.
The following improvements have been made in the new version of CrossOver 25.1.0:
• Problems with special game launchers from Electronic Arts (EA) and Ubisoft have been resolved.
• Support for game controllers, including popular Xbox models, has been improved.
• Bugs that prevented downloading games from Steam (a large online game store) and connecting to it have been fixed.
• The stability of MS Office 2016 programs on Linux has been improved, and a problem with connecting to Outlook email has been solved.
• The list of games that now run without errors has been updated.
The CrossOver program is based on another free project called Wine. CrossOver's developers actively help with the development of that project, which helps to improve both programs.
