Kazakhstan intends to intensify the restoration of the Aral Sea ecosystem
09.01.2025 | 16:00 |Kazakhstan is actively working to restore the Aral Sea ecosystem.
In recent years, the republic has strengthened cooperation with the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) to effectively address the region's water and environmental problems.
Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Ermuhambet Konuspayev met with the Chairman of the IFAS Executive Committee to discuss the results of Kazakhstan's first year of chairmanship and plans for reforming the fund. The main focus was on water management, water and energy cooperation, and the ecological development of the Aral Sea basin countries. An important step was the signing of agreements aimed at implementing regional environmental projects and programs, which will improve the state of the ecosystem.
The restoration of the Aral Sea ecosystem includes not only the restoration of the water balance but also the greening of the former seabed, which will help reduce dust storms and improve the quality of life of the local population. Kazakhstan also plans to continue active engagement with international partners to achieve sustainable development of the region and improve the environmental situation.
