Turkmenistan Investment Forum 2024: Economic Development and International Collaboration

Registration is open for the Turkmenistan Investment Forum 2024 (TIF 2024) to be held on September 19-20 in Ashgabat. TIF 2024 aims to attract foreign investment and promote international cooperation on the eve of the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence. The forum aims to unveil Turkmenistan's investment potential, focusing on sectors such as oil and gas, energy, construction, transportation, communications and agriculture. Key objectives include attracting foreign investment, especially in the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea and the Galkynysh field, as well as showcasing major projects such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline and initiatives in gas chemistry, power generation, construction, textiles and transportation, as well as the development of smart agriculture and efficient water usage.

Turkmenistan, with over 71 billion tons of oil equivalent in hydrocarbon resources and ranking fourth globally in proven natural gas reserves, will showcase key projects such as the ongoing expansion of the Galkynysh Field, the TAPI Pipeline transporting 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, and renewable energy projects like the hybrid solar-wind power plant near Lake Altyn Asyr. Investments are also sought for new chemical plants in Garabogaz, Ovadandepe, and Turkmenabat.

The forum will cover several key topics, including the role of digital advances in sustainable development, environmental sustainability initiatives, strengthening infrastructure for economic connectivity, and diversifying agriculture, industrial sectors and expanding public-private partnerships. Separate sessions will focus on the circular economy, green economy, improved transportation connectivity, and an exhibition highlighting Turkmenistan's economic achievements.

Projects in the transport and communication sector include modernizing the national fleet, launching a new satellite, expanding logistics routes, and enhancing both national and regional connectivity. The forum will focus on implementing Turkmenistan's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing public welfare, healthy lifestyles, quality education, gender equality, and advancing digital and innovative economic sectors. Discussions will also cover social policies, market reforms, and climate change adaptation.

Two key roundtables will focus on the environmental aspects of hydrocarbon development, with an emphasis on reducing methane and gas emissions, and Turkmenistan's integration into the global economy, exploring the challenges and opportunities of joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). TIF 2024 aims to create a platform for the international business community to explore investment opportunities in Turkmenistan, establish mutually beneficial partnerships and contribute to the country's economic development. The forum is expected to become an annual event that promotes cooperation and showcases Turkmenistan's economic potential.
