Actor Jackie Chan to carry torch at Paris Paralympic Games opening
27.08.2024 | 01:50 |Chinese actor Jackie Chan will take part in the opening ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games, scheduled for August 28. As reported by BFMTV, citing the Games' organizing committee, he will be among the participants in the Paralympic torch relay.
70-year-old Jackie Chan will begin his leg of the relay at 17:27 local time. The opening ceremony will begin at 20:00 (23:00 Ash) on the Champs Elysee and Place de la Concorde. The flame, lit on Saturday in Stoke Mandeville, England, the historic birthplace of the Paralympic Games, arrived in France on Sunday via the Channel Tunnel, carried by Olympic wheelchair fencing medallist Emmanuelle Assmann. The flame continued its journey and was “multiplied” into 12 Paralympic flames, which will be carried by 1,000 torchbearers to around 50 cities in 12 simultaneous relays.
The 12 relays will converge in Paris, where the flame will arrive on Wednesday for the opening ceremony. The Paris Paralympics run from August 28 to September 8.
