 JICA offers cooperation in the port of Turkmenbashi for the development of the Trans-Caspian corridor

Representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) paid a visit to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on March 7. The Japanese delegation at the meeting was headed by Kenji Ogasahara, Director of the JICA Department for East and Central Asia and the Caucasus.

The parties discussed a number of issues related to customs procedures carried out at the Turkmenbashi seaport. Japanese experts made a proposal to cooperate in the field of customs to support the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TCITR).

Another topic for discussion was the participation of representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in JICA training programs, which provide partner countries with the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge based on the Japanese experience. In particular, they talked about participation in the Master Trainer Program, which is conducted in cooperation with JICA and the World Customs Organization.

During their stay in Turkmenistan, representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency visited the international seaport of Turkmenbashi and we held talks at the railway department of the country.
