The JICA delegation visited the international seaport of Turkmenbashi
06.03.2024 | 13:53 |Representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) made a business visit to the international seaport of Turkmenbashi to discuss further cooperation.
During the visit, in the meeting room of the ferry and passenger terminal, guests were given a presentation of the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi port with a detailed description of the equipment and machinery used here, services and tariffs, according to the website of the Turkmenistan Maritime and River Transport Agency.
Then Japanese experts on site familiarized themselves with each terminal separately, studied the port’s capacities and facilities, and learned about the advantages of the “customs storage” regime for transit cargo. This service allows you to store various cargo and goods at the port without paying customs duties and clearance for up to 3 years. This regime is attractive to many clients, as it significantly reduces the time and costs of processing customs documentation and transporting goods, the maritime department noted.
Using the great potential of the Turkmenbashi port will improve regional logistics, revitalize the trans-Caspian corridor, and, as a result, will contribute to the development of the economy of the region, including neighboring countries.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency is a non-profit organization established in 1974 to support the development of other countries through technical cooperation and exchange of experience, including in the field of infrastructure.
