Nizami Ganjavi, one of the greatest poets of the medieval East, was honored in Ashgabat
10.03.2024 | 11:55 |The Iranian Embassy in Ashgabat organized an event on Saturday dedicated to Nizami Ganjavi, a classic of Persian poetry, one of the greatest poets of the medieval East.
Teachers and students specializing in Farsi of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi took part in the literary action.
At the ceremony, the Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ali Mojtab Rozbakhani, briefly spoke about Nizami, also known as Hakim Nizami, calling him one of the pearls of Oriental literature. He touched upon Nizami’s work, his verbal art, in which he expressed mystical and philosophical thoughts.
Ruzbakhani also highly appreciated the readiness of the Turkmen side to expand cultural cooperation between Tehran and Ashgabat.
Then the students recited fragments of Nizami’s poem “Khosrow and Shirin”, which glorifies the greatness of love and humanistic ideals. Other works of the poet were also performed, IRNA reports.
