Bangladesh is a small country in South Asia, bordered to the north, west and east by India and to the southeast by Myanmar. Over the past few years, Bangladesh has been demonstrating high rates of economic growth due to the development of export-oriented industries, primarily the clothing and knitting industries. Due to the growing domestic demand for hydrocarbon raw materials, the country also showed interest in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
