A high-level meeting will be held in Dushanbe along the corridor that will connect China and Turkey through Central Asia
21.09.2023 | 10:08 |On September 21, Dushanbe will host the first meeting of the High–level Working Group on the new multimodal corridor "Tajikistan –Uzbekistan– Turkmenistan–Iran-Turkey", which will link China and Turkey through the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East. This is reported by the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.
At the meeting, it is planned to discuss how to develop and popularize this international transit corridor in order to increase the volume of cargo transportation and simplify trade procedures, especially for those countries that do not have access to the sea.
It is expected that along with high-ranking officials of the ministries of transport of the countries participating in the corridor, the meeting will be attended by Begli Soyunov, head of the Marketing Research Department of logistics and cargo lines of the AOOT "Demiryollary", as well as Aymyrat Shiriev, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and Contracts of the JSC "Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan".
The purpose of the multimodal corridor "Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Turkey" is to increase the volume and speed of cargo transportation between China and Turkey, as well as to strengthen economic cooperation and food security in the region.
The project involves the use of different types of transport, such as rail, road, sea and air. To implement it, it is necessary to build and modernize the transport infrastructure in the participating countries, as well as introduce digital technologies to simplify customs procedures and control cargo flows.
